Merry Christmas From MSF

Thursday, December 24th, 2009 120 views

In several posts, I’ve alluded to the fact that Steve and I are getting back in to reading comics. After reading a couple, we also decided that we might want to try our hand at creating them. Here’s one based on an idea that Steve had after watching a SAW movie, with a hint of Christmas cheer written and drawn by the both of us…

Check it out on my deviantART account or download it here. This was drawn in pencil, scanned into Adobe Illustrator and colored, lettered and paneled in Adobe Photoshop CS4…enjoy.

We may do more in the future, but I don’t know…it would be pretty neat to make it a kind of monthly feature type deal here. And don’t forget to comment here to tell us what you think of it. Comments received may persuade us one way or the other to continue with it.

Site Update

The Linux PenguinWell since I messed up the SQL database pretty bad trying to clean it up, I figured it may as well be time to switch to a Linux server. The site came back on a lot sooner than I expected and it seems like the users, posts and comments are still intact. There is still a lot of work to be done, but at least the site is functional, albeit ugly as well. To the newcomers, if we are going to have any soon, please disregard the site as it is right now as I’ll be working through the week into the weekend getting it back to MSF standards. As always, feel free to comment on anything you like. If you’d like to make a post, just let me know and I’ll bump your status to Contributer.

Here Comes Santy Claus…

NORAD Tracks SantaOn the morning of December 24th, 1955, Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) Director of Operations Colonel (AF) Harry Shoup feared the worst when he heard the red phone suddenly ring to life.

THE red phone.

The red phone that is only to be used in top secret contingency reporting was ringing and no one had any idea why. Col. Shoup instantly grabbed up the phone, praying that the call didn’t mean that the Russians were invading the US (which was a pretty big fear back then). (more…)

MSF’s List of 10 Essential Windows Programs

Monday, December 21st, 2009 200 views

Windows LogoWhat I meant to say was “10 Windows Programs That Are Free”. This here’s a list of 10 programs that find or will find their way onto every new Windows install I do (I usually reformat my hard drive about every 6 months). Hopefully this list will showcase some programs that are not likely to be on your computer, but probably should be because they are so bad ass and free. Keep in mind as you check this list that all the programs listed here are ones that I use myself and that there may and probably are better programs out there suited to do the specific job you are looking to do. Good People Do Exist

The Devil Wears PradaMy procrastination almost made me miss a concert tonight that I have been counting down the days until for over three months.  I have been anxiously awaiting the Devil Wears Prada, All That Remains, and Story of the Year show since the day it was announced. Unfortunately, when I went to the Norva today to purchase my ticket I was informed that the show was sold out. I didn’t weep, but I considered it.  After basically giving up on the idea of going, I thought of one last ditch effort to possibly get to the show…Craig’s List. (more…)

Review: Extension Changer and Flash Renamer

KeyboardAs I stated in my American Comics vs Manga post, I’ve been getting back into reading comics. I have gotten literally several thousand digitally archived comic books in various formats with various file names denoting each book. Personally, I like all the files of a certain type to be named uniformly and since many different people make scans of comic books, there are tons of different possible ways the books get named. Renaming several thousand files can get very time consuming, leaving little time/want to actually read them. In the course of my mass renamings, I’ve found two small programs that (more…)

Redskins Turnaround?

Friday, December 18th, 2009 159 views

Redskins LogoThis is not a “mysilentfury” post at all…more of a “myloudexcitement” post really.  The best Christmas present I could have gotten has come eight days before Christmas morning.  The ten-year tenure of the Redskins general manager, Vinny Cerato, has come to a long overdue end.

I have been a die hard Redskins fan since I was born basically, and anyone who knows me understands that if you cut me open, I would bleed Burgandy and Gold.  For the past ten years the Redskins have been run by one of the worst general managers in sports history.  He has (more…)

American Comics vs Manga

Death NoteWell, well, it’s seems like it’s been forever since anything was posted on the site, so my apologies for that (Jules, since you are the only one who reads this shit).

Anyway, I’ll get to it. I’ve just recently started to get back into reading comics books,  and I must say that I’m glad to be back. It all started when I was reintroduced to Anime by Steve with Death Note, the excellent adaptation of the Manga with the same name, which naturally led to an interest in Manga, the Japanese counter parts of American comic books. After getting my hands on a few (more…)

About MSF.com

Steve and Chris started thingsthatpissusoff.com several years ago and was unfortunately shut down after only one year. MSF.com is an ongoing attempt to sort of "re-live" those days, but, at the same time, bring better writing and solid articles to the table. Feel free to comment on anything posted here because that's essentially what the site is here for. If you'd like to post your own articles to MSF.com, all you have to do is ask. Also, the ads shown on this site don't necessarily reflect MSF views or beliefs. They are semi-random and based on key words I think.
