Yes! I have been saying this for years and they are finally going to do it. Google is coming out with it’s own operating system. It’s my understanding that visually it will look like Chrome, Google’s bad ass, light-weight web browser, and is going to be based on the Linux kernal. I love Chrome and I’m a fan of Linux, so guess what my computer will be running sometime next year? Google Chrome OS. Oh yes.

I’m not going to sit here and write a full blown post about it, because I’m not so good with the technical aspects of it, but I will say this: I’m a Google whore…I sign up for everything and try everything and pretty much like everything, except of course orkut, which falls all kinds of short in the social networking arena. The fact is, Google makes the internet experience much easier for everyone and everything involved. Take, again, Google Chrome. Chrome is great because it’s faster than other browsers. It’s faster because it doesn’t have all the unneeded bells and whistles. Google has stated that the OS is being purpose built with that in mind as well and being based on Linux, I expect nothing short of a lighter and faster operating system. Don’t get me wrong, you’re not going to be fighting Arthas with your World of Warcraft guild on it, but still, if you do basic stuff with a computer (music, movies, email, etc.) and like Google, you’ll probably want to keep up with this.

There’s not really much on this yet, but who knows, something cooler than we could have expected might come out of it.

The only bad thing that I can see about it is that it’s supposed to be web-based. Those that know me well know that I have an on again/off again relationship with various internet providers, so that would really bum me out if I couldn’t make use of all the features when I don’t have internet access. Though with the fact that you can now use Gmail, Docs and Calender offline now, maybe this won’t be an issue…I hope.

Ok, so maybe I lied about this not being a full blown post…I’m just so damn excited about this.
